The treatment of oncological patients at Erlangen University Hospital takes place in so-called organ cancer centers. These organ cancer centers are interdisciplinary, i.e. multidisciplinary, networks of inpatient and outpatient facilities in which all disciplines involved in the treatment work closely together. In addition to surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, experts in drug-based tumor therapy and other disciplines, they also include oncology nurses, psychooncologists and social workers.
The individual interdisciplinary centers at Erlangen University Hospital are specialists in the treatment of a wide range of cancers and offer special therapy units. Patients can benefit there, among other things, from new, innovative therapeutic approaches in studies that are not yet available elsewhere.
